 This quote is saying good thoughts will reward you and bad thoughts will punish you. So to put in easy terms do good things and good things will happen do bad things and bad things will happen. For example say your friends are doing something they shouldn't and they want you to join in you should no because you will be rewarded later on and they will be punished.
